Medical Scribe - ScribeAmerica/ Oschner Emergency Medicine Department
October 2022 -
The responsibility of a medical scribe is to work with a physician to document their interactions with patients. This includes recording the history of present illness, review of systems, and physical examination. My scribe position is in the emergency medicine department at Oschner in Baton Rouge on O'Neal. The experience I have gained here and continue to gain is invaluable in my aspirations to become a doctor. The E.D. is a fast-paced facility that cares for dozens of patients from various backgrounds and varying degrees of illness, every day. As I gain more experience in this position, I hope to gain invaluable insight into doctor-patient interactions and to see how I can one day bring my own skills and expertise into the field of medicine.

Physical Therapy Technician- Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic
May 2021 - June 2022
Working as a physical therapy technician at BROC, I was responsible for welcoming and guiding over a dozen patients everyday through their recovery plans and to carry-out electrotherapy. Moreover, it was my job to effectively communicate between patients and their therapist about the patients' condition and about changes to their care plan. I loved my time working as a P.T. Tech. because it allowed me to interact with patients from the ages of 12- nearly 100, and it was fulfilling to see patients' conditions improve.

Undergraduate Researcher - Louisiana State University
January 2020 -
I have been conducting synthetic biology research in Dr. Yongchan Kwon's lab in the department of biological engineering. In his lab I have acquired research skills that include PCR, purification techniques, cloning, cell culturing, extract production, and data analysis. My research has been predominately centered around optimizing cell free protein synthesis for the production of various proteins. In the Summer of 2021, my lab partner, Chloe Heitmeier, and I received an LSU Discover Research Grant to carry out our research project entitled "Cell-free reprogramming monolignol biosynthetic pathway." We also carried out an oral presentation on this research at the LSU discover day in April 2022, where we were a monetary award winner for group presenters.
